Why print airplane tickets if you have them online? We thought so. Turns out sometimes printing is a must. On our way to Asia, we were stuck for a while in Shanghai airport since all our tickets where in Gmail. Of course we knew that Google is banned in China, however it never crossed our minds to relate it to our trip.
Even thought to ask some friends at home to send us tickets through FB or Viber and later remembered that these two have also been banned.
A glance at our conversation in a customs office:
Officer: Sir, show me your plain tickets.
My husband: I can’t! Nothing is working in China!!
Me (thinking): Idiots!
After lots of arguments at 3 AM we finally entered the departure zone. Lesson learned: never try to pass the China Customs with your tickets in Gmail.
